We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to craft beer providers in the Southern corners of Melbourne – from one of the originals in the area – 2 Brothers, which started back in 2007 and is still going strong, to one of the new kids on the block – Liberty Brewery, started up by some kiwis from the South Island who have built a small taproom in the industrial block near DFO and importing kiwi beers from their NZ brewery based in Hellensville – north of Auckland.
With craft bottleshops, Grape & Grain near Moorabbin Station is a convenient choice. It’s the perfect place to head when the inevitable Frankston line breaks down, and you find yourself stuck at the Moorabbin. Mates on the main street of Moordy is a great stop to pick up a few cans from their wide selection of craft brews, stop for the obligatory one or two drinks, and watch the world go by.
Are you keen to check a few of them out? The team at BeerBelts Victoria runs a Bayside Beer tour that includes many of the breweries in the area. Head to www.beerbeltsvictoria.com.au to find out more.
